Patnitala Disabled Peoples Organization to Development (Patnitala DPOD) is a dynamic Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) operating in the Naogoan district of Bangladesh. Established in 2008, Patnitala DPOD was initiated under the "Persons with Disabilities Self-Initiative to Development" (PSID) program, led by Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS). From its inception, the organization focused on mobilizing local individuals with disabilities, emphasizing empowerment and self-reliance from 2008 to 2011.
As a grassroots entity, Patnitala DPOD is distinctively managed and led by persons with disabilities, ensuring substantial and equal involvement of women with disabilities in all its activities. The organization prides itself on being officially registered with the Department of Social Service (DSS) of the Bangladesh government.
Working collaboratively with various governmental and non-governmental organizations, development agencies, donors, and other stakeholders, Patnitala DPOD is committed to ensuring that persons with disabilities are actively and meaningfully included in all aspects of societal development. This approach not only fosters community integration but also enhances the capacities and visibility of individuals with disabilities within and beyond their local communities.
